Welcome to our second Bali trip. Well we had one mighty busy time in Bali this year. Where the Nullabor leg was focused on flora and fauna Bali was more people focused. We met up with friends, made new ones, and of course met up again with happy children from the homes and met new children. As well as visiting the 2 Mercy Indonesia homes we went to last year we went to their new home in Denpasar which houses 13 younger children. The future plan is to move these children into the larger Denparsar home when new accommodation is completed. As well as this new accommodation they are nearing completion of a radio station which will give the children an opportunity to learn how to be broadcasters. So there was a hype of activity happening on our visit.

Like last year we were entertained by their singing and musical talents, exchanged hugs, received many thankyous, big smiles and happy laughter. But unlike last year we found a supermarket on the ground floor to buy the supplies instead of stressing out watching the store attendants getting overflowing trolleys down the escalators (there are no lifts). We purchased personal care products, noodles, oil and sugar and also gave cash donations to each of the homes as they know best what is they need most. They will buy rice and school supplies with the money. All up supplies and cash donations totalled $600.

Getting around was via Shelley, brave brave girl, this year as Shane couldn't make the trip this year. It's not an easy place to drive around in especially when you don't know where you are going but she did a marvelous job and we managed to get to our destinations without any dramas. We had the pleasure of Kylie from Mercy Indonesia accompany us over to Singaraja, on the other side of the island, to visit the 3rd home. As with the other kids we were entertained by their talents. One of the girls attempted to teach us tradional Bali dance but they were far better students at learning the "Nutbush" and singing "tie me kangaroo down sport". Kylie spent the night with the children then travelled back over the mountain with us the next down. Nick ( sister-in-law) had joined us in Bali too late to make the other 2 visits so we called into the Denparsar home on our way back so she could say hi to the kids. Next years trip isn't planned as yet but we will defineatly pop back in and see the kids as well as venture out further and see something new.
